How AI Is Changing Search and SEO

The search landscape is changing. People are moving away from the traditional search engine such as Google and Bing and starting to use LLMs such as ChatGPT.

The methods by which people search is constantly changing. Who remembers the days of Alta Vista, Yahoo and Ask Jeeves?

The search landscape is currently dominated by Google (and a little bit of Bing) but with the advent of AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) that is changing.

So that we could get a better understanding of the current options, we performed a simple search “Web Designer Ascot” across a number of the most popular and well known AI LLMs.

Listed below is a screenshot of the result of each of the searches.

Conclusion

As you can see from the results, there are a wide variety of different types of information returned; some results details the service the company offers whilst some just detail contact details.

None of the AI LLMs are transparent about how they work and how they prioritise which information to return. It is therefore important to have a well structured website with detailed content about your products, services and contact details.

At the moment, we can only recommend that you follow existing SEO best practices to ensure that your website is found by these AI LLMs and returned in their results.
